Seth Hysak

"My name is Seth J. Hysack, and my story with the North Rose Fire Department started long before I ever put on a set of gear. I was born and raised right here in North Rose, growing up watching my dad Raymond serve his 20 years with the department. As a kid, I remember hearing his pager go off at home and watching him fly out the door for whatever emergency was happening. Spending so much time around the firehouse with him, I just knew that someday I'd follow in his footsteps.

In 2007, right after graduating school, I applied and was accepted into membership. Becoming a second-generation fireman at 18 years old was a huge moment for me.

Since then, I've held just about every rank you can in the department — moving from Truck Lieutenant, to EMS Captain, to Assistant Chief, to serving as a Chief in 2019, and now back to Assistant Chief.

Serving as a Chief during the COVID epidemic was definitely one of the toughest chapters of my time here. Guiding our crew through uncharted territory and keeping the community safe during that crisis took everything we had, but it showed just how tough our people are.

There's a great sense of pride that comes with serving the community you live in and love. It has been a true honor to lead and serve the North Rose Fire Department with such a great group of people over the years."
