    North Rose Cold Storage founded

    M.C. Hall, John Hill, Frank Hill, Thomas Welch and Addison Weed.

  2. 1891
    North Rose Malt House Fire

    An estimated $175,000 loss — roughly $6.5 million today.

  3. 1911
    Community petition to organize a fire company

    Fire district boundaries established by law that April.

  4. 1912
    Founding of company, election of officers

    T. B. Welch, President and Chief. Not yet under legal charter.

  5. 1915
    Charter granted by New York State

    North Rose Chemical Company — 23 charter members. R. D. Dickinson, 1st Chief.

  6. 1916
    First fire station built on Caroline Street
  7. 1917
    West Main Street conflagration

    Half the business district destroyed. A Hook and Ladder Company was organized in May.

  8. 1919
    Fifty members on the roll

    Club room on the second floor of the Caroline Avenue building.

  9. 1920
    Firemen's Fair Convention

    Held at Oaks Farm, North Rose.

  10. 1923
    First fire siren installed

    Atop the cold storage, later moved to the town park so it could be heard.

  11. 1924
    First motor engine: Buffalo Larrabee

    500 GPM chemical and water pumper.

  12. 1934
    Name restored to North Rose Fire Department
  13. 1937
    REO Speedwagon pumper delivered
  14. 1938
    First ambulance — the Pack-Ett
  15. 1949
    Firemen's Field dedicated

    Land donated by the Hill Family.

    Municipal water system constructed
  17. 1958
    Attempt to incorporate the department

    A legal effort that ran from 1958 into 1959 — and then went quiet.

    Second fire station built on Huron Street
  19. 1970
    Fire Phone network established

    A party line at the hall, the chiefs' homes, the first aid captain and Gordy's Diner.

    Ladies Auxiliary formed
  21. 1975
    DUKW amphibious unit purchased
  22. 1980
    NRFD certified for ambulance service
  23. 1983
    Sodus Cold Storage explosion & fire

    12:15 p.m., Monday, July 25, 1983. The hamlet was evacuated.
